bloom
When I was in high school my mom used to drive me to school in the mornings and we would always pass by this street full of dogwood trees. When they were blooming my mom would without fail start cheering, "AAAAAAAAMYYY OH MY GOODNESSSS LOOK AT THOSE BEAUTIFUL DOG WOOD BLOSSOMS OHHHHHH!!!!!!" And sometimes she would get herself good and choked up.
Of course, me being in my angry teen phase, I just snarled and rolled my eyes, tried to slip my Cure cassette back in the tape player.
Things are different now. I'm still an angry teen listening to the Cure but I get really excited about things that bloom and everything blooms in Austin. That is not always a good thing but after a week of rain, I'm hoping the wildflowers perform a better number than they did last year. Wow, I might be going soft.
